Summer in Downtown Omaha means big events, big crowds, and big energy. This June, our neighborhood will host the Taste of Omaha, MAHA, and the College World Series—drawing as many as 30,000 visitors a day. We’re excited to welcome everyone, and we’re also preparing to make sure Downtown remains safe, clean, and enjoyable throughout the season.
Expanded Security Presence
To support the surge in visitors, ODIDA is significantly expanding security coverage for the month of June:
- Current Patrols – 2 Lion’s Gate Security Officers on duty
- Thurs–Sat: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
- Sun: 3:00 PM–7:00 AM
- June Expansion – Adding 2 more officers to each shift above, plus:
- Mon–Wed: New patrols from 5:00 PM–11:00 PM
- Mon–Wed: New patrols from 5:00 PM–11:00 PM
- Omaha Police Partnership – They have increased their staffing for The RiverFront Patrol for the summer by 4 officers.
What’s Next
At the end of June, ODIDA will reevaluate staffing levels for the remainder of the summer based on event activity and community needs. More updates will be shared on our website and social media.
