Get involved in Downtown Omaha through ODIDA committees, email updates, board meetings, and volunteer opportunities. Downtown works best when the people who live, work, and invest here help shape it. On this page you can find ways To DO your part, from joining a committee and subscribing to tailored email updates to attending Board meetings or volunteering at events. Join a Committee
ODIDA committees are open to anyone with an interest in improving Downtown—you don’t need to be on the Board. Each committee focuses on a different aspect of Downtown life, and we welcome new voices and ideas.
Activation Committee
Focus: Event promotion, economic growth, and community engagement
What They Do: Initiatives like the Downtown Art Walk, weekly events newsletter, public art, and alley revitalization
Meeting: 2nd Wednesday, 1 PM (via Zoom)
Pedestrian Amenities Committee
Focus: Creating a clean, green, attractive Downtown environment
What They Do: Tree and flower plantings, addressing cleaning hotspots, and improving urban streetscapes
Meeting: 2nd Wednesday, 12 PM (via Zoom)
Safety & Security Committee
Focus: Enhancing both the perception and reality of safety Downtown
What They Do: Partnering with the Omaha Police Department, Lion’s Gate Security, and RiverFront Patrol; collaborating with Unhoused Outreach; and leading lighting improvements
Meeting: 2nd Wednesday, 11 AM (via Zoom)
