St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Route and Closures

Saturday, March 14 is parade day on the north end of Downtown Omaha. The City of Omaha has permitted the St. Patrick’s Day Parade by the Ancient Order of Hibernians. The parade is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with an Opening Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. near 16th & Capitol. If you are traveling Downtown during that window, please plan ahead for temporary street closures and redirected traffic.

Route and closures

The route starts at 16th & Capitol, goes east on Capitol Avenue to 12th Street, turns north, and ends on Mike Fahey Street. The route map also shows a dispersal area along Mike Fahey toward 10th, and a staging area on North 16th.

During parade operations, these street segments will be temporarily closed:

  • N 16th St, Cuming St to Capitol Ave
  • Capitol Ave, N 16th St to N 12th St
  • N 12th St, Capitol Ave to Mike Fahey St
  • Mike Fahey St, N 12th St to N 10th St

Plan your trip

  • Build in extra time. Expect delays near the route as intersections are managed for parade movement.
  • Park once. If you can, park outside the closure area and walk the last few blocks.
  • Consider transit. Metro trip tools can help you plan around closures and find the closest stops.
  • For businesses and buildings: Share this advisory with staff, tenants, and vendors who may arrive during the parade window.

Parking and amenities

  • Parking: The organizer notes Park Omaha garages at 10th & Jackson and 15th & Douglas as options for parade-day parking.
  • On-site amenities: The organizer lists porta potties near 11th & 15th Jackson and 11th & 13th Howard, plus food trucks near 11th & Jackson.
  • Safety: If you see something that does not look right, tell a police officer right away.
