Summer Security Update

The Omaha Downtown Improvement District is gearing up for the busy summer month of June when our neighborhood hosts several major events including the Swim Trials, the Summer Arts Festival, and College World Series. These events regularly bring in upwards of 30,000 people a day! We love the extra visitors, but we also know that it requires extra efforts from everyone to keep us looking our best and feeling our safest.

ODID will be greatly expanding our security presence this year for the month of June. Currently there are two Lion's Gate Security Officers on Thursdays to Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., and on Sundays from 3 p.m. to 7 a.m. In June, we will be adding two more security officers for each of those shifts. Monday to Wednesday shifts will have added officers as well from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Partnering with Omaha Police Department , we will be hiring 4 off-duty police officers Friday and Saturday nights to be strategically placed throughout Downtown in our highest volume areas in June.

Once June is completed, the ODID will reevaluate how to staff the rest of the summer. More updates will come.

We hope everyone comes down to safely enjoy these fun events and to eat, drink, shop, and relish in the summer evenings and all that Downtown Omaha has to offer!
